Create a dinosaur SLJ

Task Description: In this task I have been working on creating my own dinosaur on a website. This is only the kick start activity for this section. I have never had too much interest in dinosaurs or species like them, Though I do agree they are very interesting and mysterious as I wasn’t alive to ever live in their presence. Dinosaurs are not fully discovered for who they are and remain a mysterious piece of history for the world.  Scientists and many more people try to dig up and find the full answer and explanation to dinosaurs, though they haven’t found every secret yet.

In this task I have made a dinosaur of my own, I haven’t named it yet as I do not know what to call it. I mixed and matched other dinosaur parts and even added wings and gave it some colour as well. It was pretty easy to do as I got it done in like under 5 minutes or so. I was pretty indecisive with the background as I didn’t like most of the backgrounds I had to choose from.

Trading card- SLJ

Task Description: In this task I have tried my best to create a Pokemon trading card based on the maui dolphin. There was a template for this so I made a copy and followed the instructions to make a Pokemon trading card. This didn’t take me much time to do at all It was pretty easy. I used a few shapes and text boxes, as well as using google images and real Pokemon cards for reference.

I didn’t do many posts this week because my family was pretty busy and we had guests  over once or twice and we went out nearly every day so it was a pretty busy week. I managed to get my second post for this week done though, later if I am lucky I might even get a third blog post squeezed in. My Pokemon trading card which I have made earlier is below from this text.

What if story- SLJ task

Task description: Yesterday I finished another SLJ task but didn’t have the time to blog it before my bedtime. This was a very easy task to do as all I needed to do was write a remake story of the story about how kiwi saved the forest, but instead kiwi didn’t save the forest. I have made my story to have kiwi  extinct instead of saving the forest. This is my remake of the story though I would like to give credit to  Andre Ngapo for retelling the story/ myth and Isobel Joy Te-Aho White for illustration.

I really enjoyed this task Because I generally enjoy writing stories and learning new vocabulary and grammar to add to my knowledge which is why I enjoyed this task. I also have a habit of summarising a book or writing fan-fictions after reading the book so this task was good fun for me in general.  The first paragraph is just stating the purpose of this story and what would happen in my short story.

Weta warrior -SLJ step it up

Task Description: I have finished the first blog post for this week, which is the weta warrior step it up challenge for the summer learning journey activity. I didn’t do kick start activity this morning because I was busy this morning redaing A new book I had purchased. This task was all about wetas or the demon grasshoppers. I had to design a piece of armour for one of the wetas. Such as a helmet or a leg piece.

In the blue print I included of my helmet I said the type of material was going to be metal, which was only as a metaphor since I cannot actually weld a piece of armour. I only said that to be a reference for  real life armour I have seen online.  The red dots by the eye holes are the ones I meant to attach to the main head piece. I would have made it able to move up and reveal the wetas face but i did not have any time to do so.  If i did have to make the face piece movable I would  attach a tooth pick under the main piece but  only glue a bit on each side of the tooth pick. Then I would attach the face piece onto the tooth pick so It can flip upwards.

Pe’a and the flying fox- SLJ

Task Decription; in this task I have learnt more about the pe’a. The pe’a is a traditional male tattoo. This summer learning journey task wasn’t that hard to complete. All I had to do was read about the pa’e tattoo I have mentioned about earlier and  the flying fox which is the animal the pe’a tattoo is based off.  The pe’a is a Samoan tattoo from the hips to right below the knee. There are many stories about the pe’a but there is one story in the google drawing below. I haven’t had time to blog because I have been out with my family most of the day so I couldn’t blog or start anything sooner.

Korowai SLJ- Kick start

Task Description: I have finished another summer learning journey kick start activity. This kick start activity was all about the different types of feathers since the name of the activity was literally “feathers”. I have named this post korowai because in this task I had to design a korowai. I have decided to simply post the slides so that if anyone else might want to make a digital korowai, it is simply on my blog.

It did not take me long to finish this task as all I had to do was make a few lines and copy and paste multiple feathers. At the end of all the slides are all the types of feathers you can choose from. I chose to do the kiwi and the tui feathers since I thought the colours went nicely with each other. All I had to do was follow all the instructions which was good because if there were not any instructions I would be very lost trying to do this activity. I didn’t do any posts yesterday because it was new years eve and it was quite chaotic around my hour trying to prepare. On the first slide is just my korowai  and if you move slides the instruction will be there.

Flying squirrel SLJ- Kick start

Task Description; Yesterday I started another summer learning journey task, I have only finished my model today Because I started the activity late yesterday, around 7 pm. In this task I had to study about flying squirrels, and also to make a model of the flying squirrel in order to complete this task.

I have used felt paper and hot glue to glue the pieces together.  In the body I have stuffed it in the middle to act as a stomach and use black marker to mark around the stomach. Then I used the  same pen to draw the face as well as outline the paws so I could cut around them properly. For the paws I just used small pieces of felt and blued them on. For under the tail I used a cream/ skin colour felt while on the top I used the same grey. I did not have brown or light brown felt which is why I made my one grey.

Natural art SLJ- Kick start

Task Description: In this task I have used a few rocks and small stems to create a butterfly for the “natural art” summer learning journey task. I have done the “flying squirrels” summer learning journey task, though I have not blogged about it yet. I hope to blog it later this afternoon when I come back home.

This summer learning journey was not hard at all. All I needed to do was grab a few rocks to create a butterfly body and wings as well as 2 small stems for the antennas.  Then I simply put the rocks and stems away after I made sure I had at least 1 or 2 photos that I have taken.

Tiger animation- SLJ task

Task Description: Today I have done another SLJ activity for this week. I didn’t post anything yesterday as my family were literally out all day to visit family friends for Christmas to come together and celebrate Christmas together. I also opened my presents on Christmas eve at 12 pm instead of Christmas day  so I woke up at 11 in the afternoon.

This task is the step up for the tigers task. I have made an animation. The first few slides are an introduction. Then the next 10-20 slides I have made a little  showcase of the ages of the tiger which I have named Eliana. Then the next few slides is a wild boar chasing the tiger. Wild boars are one of the animals that hunt tigers. I am not sure if the slides will start immediately or you will have to flip the slides manually. So just be aware of that.

Tigers- SLJ Kick start

Task description: In this task I have made an information board including facts on tigers. It is quite obvious that for this task, the main topic is tigers. It didn’t take me long to complete it as all I did was add facts baout tigers and decorate the page a bit.

I first added all the shapes, text boxes and background colour. Then after that was all complete I moved on to adding all the  information and searching up facts based off tigers of course  after a few minutes the board was done, though it felt kind of empty so I went to google to find pictures on tigers and put an image through remove.bg.
